Their main objective was to oppose the government's proposed regulatory plans for the artificial intelligence (AI) industry. These technology billionaires are deeply concerned about new government oversight measures on AI technology.
This urgent meeting took place following a proposal from Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis. The proposal includes establishing a new organization that would set standards for AI security. Regarding this matter, President Trump has responded by saying that concerns about AI technology are merely baseless deception. He has warned that if regulations slow down progress, it would give China an advantage in the AI technology competition.
To resolve this problem, Musk has suggested that instead of the government imposing new regulations, AI companies should engage in mutual testing and examination among themselves. Nvidia's CEO has also firmly stated that existing laws are already sufficient to prevent AI's negative effects, and new legislation is completely unnecessary.
