A Reddit user has reported that Claude AI helped identify the likely cause of his 62-year-old uncle's mystery headaches — a condition that stumped numerous doctors over 25 years. The patient suffers from kidney failure, diabetes, and other conditions, but the defining symptom was severe headaches that appeared only when lying down.

After the user fed his uncle's medical records into Claude, the AI noted that the positional nature of the headaches was consistent with Sleep Apnea and suggested a sleep study. The study confirmed the AI's hypothesis.

Since beginning CPAP therapy, the uncle reports that the headaches — which plagued him for over two decades — have completely resolved.

While this is a single anecdotal account, it has sparked wide discussion online about AI's potential role in supporting medical diagnosis, particularly for complex or long-undiagnosed cases where standard clinical pathways have been exhausted.
