China's East Lake Laboratory in Hubei Province successfully tested a 1.1-ton maglev train model, accelerating it to 800 km/h in just 5.3 seconds on a 1,000-meter test track. The model reached its maximum speed at around 600 meters and completed the braking process in approximately 8 seconds.

The system uses magnetic force and thrust propulsion technology, allowing it to move without making contact with the track like conventional train wheels. Researchers successfully overcame various challenges including aerodynamic stability, low-latency wireless communication, and precise motor control.

According to Xinhua News Agency, this test marks the East Lake Laboratory's third world record breakthrough in six months. Previously, the laboratory achieved 650 km/h in June 2025 and 700 km/h in July 2025. However, this current test involved a model used for high-speed maglev train and electromagnetic propulsion technology research, rather than a passenger transport train.
