However, when a company purchases a robot, it doesn't have to pay those taxes. This financial incentive leads businesses to increasingly prefer robots, which offer better cost-effectiveness.
To solve this problem, Gates proposes levying taxes on robot and AI token usage. The resulting tax revenue could be redirected toward retraining programs for displaced workers and social welfare initiatives.
