David Reger, founder and CEO of German robotics company NEURA Robotics, predicts that within the next 2-5 years, robots will be capable of replacing nearly all physical work currently performed by humans. In a recent interview, he expressed confidence that embodied AI and robotic technologies will achieve this capability.
The key driver behind this rapid advancement is the ability to train robots to perform physical tasks. Rather than programming robots for single, fixed movements, NEURA is developing robots that can see, hear, feel, and learn physical skills in real-world environments. Reger states that for certain complex tasks, robots can now be trained to perform faster and more reliably than humans.
This technology could impact nearly all types of physical work, from manufacturing and logistics to household tasks, healthcare, and other industrial operations. Currently, over 1,000 workers worldwide are wearing sensory suits to help train robots by collecting the data needed to teach them various skills. If Reger's predictions prove accurate, within the coming years robots could transition from specialized industrial machines to versatile workers, potentially bringing major changes to physical labor sectors.
