Garbage disposal work may become unnecessary in the future. US-based Oshkosh Corporation is developing a battery-powered autonomous robot called HARR-E to make waste management operations easier and faster. Users will be able to request garbage collection by using a mobile phone application or voice command without having to carry garbage cans to the collection point.
This robot will automatically visit designated locations, collect garbage, and transport it to the main waste collection facility, then return to its charging station on its own. It is equipped with AI systems, cameras, and sensors to avoid obstacles and people, making it suitable for use in areas such as apartment buildings, office complexes, and university campuses.
This noise-reducing and user-friendly robot will reduce the use of large garbage trucks, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions as well. Although it is currently still in the testing phase and has not yet entered the market, it demonstrates how AI and robotics technology could transform future waste collection systems.
